"Sports medicine" has become the general description for any medical and orthopaedic care of the physically active.
Regardless of the cause or the nature of your condition, The Sports Medicine Clinic brings that same level of commitment to helping you overcome your injury and achieve your goals. We work with both youth and adult patients to:
- Reduce pain from general, sports- or work-related conditions or injuries
- Discuss surgical options and/or speed recovery from orthopedic surgery
- Boost athletic performance
- Learn injury-prevention strategies
At The Clontarf Clinic, we believe a long, fulfilling athletic life is for everyone, and we are proud to continue a tradition of the most comprehensive sports medicine care in North Dublin
Sports Medicine doctors have undertaken extensive specialist training to qualify as Sports Physicians. Sports Physicians are different to Orthopaedic Surgeons (consultants). While Orthopaedic Surgeons are focussed on the operative treatment of musculoskeletal injuries, Sports Physicians are doctors who specialise in the non-operative treatment of these injuries. This qualifies the Sports Physician to be an excellent initial point-of-contact for the injured patient as approximately 90% of all injuries are non-surgical. If surgery is needed, the Sports Physician can expedite referral to an Orthopaedic Surgeon. Beyond injury management, Sports Physicians are also focused on preventing injuries by strengthening weaknesses, correcting imbalances and enhancing performance.
Sports Medicine doctors perform the following services:
- Preventative Therapy & Advice
